Allan Herschell Aluminum Jumper
Carousel horse is an Antique Allan Herschell Aluminum Jumper. Considered a traveling horse off a portable machine, made any time after the early 1940’s to the present.
He is an Inner Row Jumper, tucked head, with no Jewels. All Aluminum parts ,body, head legs and tail.
This company was one of 2 that made the transition into Aluminum horses.
Allan Herschell’s New York carousel company produced its first portable carousels in wood. Manufactured in America, Tonawanda New York or made for them in an outside factory.
This is a Traveler Machine horse, for up and down mechanism. There were 2 different style horses for each row. One head up and one head down, yours is the Head Down or Tucked head.
It was restored in 1995, and then repainted in 2007. There is paint peeling now on three out of four hoofs and also on the tummy of the horse. The horse is been in a climate controlled environment - air-conditioned and dehumidified room since 1995.
He is on a oak wood base with the Carousel platform fitting and brass poles.
