Stander, 48 inches tall, glass eyes, on glider base, ears missing, missing real mane and tail, unusual mouth closed, saddle would have real leather flaps, no bridle, has narrow breast collar and crupper.
Made by Joseph Brown, who was a furniture maker in Salem, Mass. circa 1890, If you have a copy of Hobby Magazine from…oh, 40 years ago now, there is a story on him.
In 1870, one of the most popular rides was Brown's Flying Horses carousel. Joseph Brown, a native of Bavaria, was an expert woodcarver who carved all the animals by hand. The carousel was first manually turned, then replaced later by a real live horse, then by a steam driven engine for its five minute trip. This was a fixture for seventy years until Brown's son-in-law passed away and the horses were sold in 1945 to Macy's Department Store for their Christmas display.

Return Policy
All special order, close out, consignment, and sale items are final sale and cannot be returned for any reason.
Prior to returning any item, Please contact us in order to receive a return authorization.
We reserve the right to charge a 20% re-stocking fee for items without authorization. To obtain authorization please telephone 352-669-6449 or email us.
All returns after 15 days will be for store credit only. Shipping Charges are not refundable.
Customer is responsible for return shipping.
All items must be returned in perfect condition. All packing, boxes, labels, tags must be attached to or returned with item. Damaged goods will not be accepted and will be returned to customer. Credit Card Refunds may only be made to the same card used for the original purchase.
To expedite your refund please include the copy of your original receipt. NOTE: refund processing may take 3-4 weeks to show on your credit card statement.
